Shop Local, Win Big!

Downtown Merchants’ Promotional Campaign: “Shop downtown Barre, win big”

When: Monday July 25 through Saturday July 30, 2016

What: Downtown Shopping Promotion

Who: Participating Downtown Merchants & Restaurants

Why: Encourage shopping in downtown Barre before and during the Barre Heritage Festival to help increase

sales at downtown merchants.

How: For every $5 spent at a participating downtown merchant, shoppers will receive one entry to win a

grand prize at the Barre Heritage Festival. Shoppers will bring all completed entry slips to the information

booths on Friday July 29 and Saturday July 30. Winners will be drawn on 7/30 at 9:00pm and announced just

before the fireworks. Winners do not need to be present to win. There will be one grand prize and several

runner-up prizes.

How to participate:

Participating merchants will receive a stack of entry slips and will track on their own to give shoppers the ap-
propriate amount of entries. Each entry slip will instruct the shopper to drop the completed entry at the in-
formation booth on Friday 7/26 and Saturday 7/27. If your shopper will not be able to attend the festival, the

merchant may at their discretion hold completed entries to drop off at the information booth on behalf of

their shoppers (or arrange for a Barre Heritage Festival representative to pick them up). We will also provide

each business with a “Shop Here” or “Dine Here” poster for their window.

If you would like to participate in this promotion to help drive sales in downtown Barre, please select from

the following participation options:

Standard: Donate a gift certificate to the grand prize pool valued at $50. All gift certificates collected will cre-
ate the “Downtown Shopping Spree” grand prize. The bigger the grand prize, the more shoppers will want to

participate.

an additional runner-up prize valued at ~$25. Enhanced level participants will be listed in BOLD in promo ma-

Strength Through Heritage

Barre is the fourth largest city in Vermont. While the community first developed around the milling available along the adjacent Winooski River, granite soon emerged as the key industry of Barre. In fact, granite from Barre, Vermont was used in some of the nation (and world’s) finest buildings, monuments, and memorials. Consequently, granite carvers from across the world settled in Barre making the city a rich mixture of cultures from all over the world.
